Frequently asked questions
Microdosing means taking a very small, sub-perceptual amount of psilocybin truffles — typically 1–2 grams. The goal isn’t to trip, but to experience subtle benefits like improved mood, clarity, focus, or social ease. When combined with our blends, the tea guides the direction of the experience (calm, energy, connection, or rest), while keeping the taste masked and the dose easier to manage.
Technically, you are microdosing alcohol with every sip. It's the same concept.
Yes. Truffles grow underground and are part of the same organism as mushrooms. In the Netherlands, psilocybin truffles are legal, while mushrooms are not.
The dosing is also different. 1 gram of truffles is around 0.1 gram of mushrooms.
We don’t recommend combining Happy Tea with alcohol or other substances. Alcohol works against the benefits of the blends and truffles, and mixing can cause unpredictable effects, like feeling totally sober.
But if you do, we recommend to wait about 1-2 hours to see how you feel.
Yes, but eating them raw can cause nausea and they don’t taste pleasant. Brewing them in Happy Tea is gentler on digestion, masks the taste, and makes dosing easier to control.
We don’t recommend driving immediately after microdosing until you know how your body responds. We recommend to wait 2-3 hours before driving.
Stacking means combining psilocybin with other natural substances (like Lion’s Mane or niacin) to support or enhance the effects. More and more research is being done on stacking, showing promising results — the most famous being the Stamets Stack (psilocybin + Lion’s Mane + niacin).
At Happy Tea, we’re big believers in stacking. Each of our blends is carefully designed with herbs, adaptogens, and vitamins that have scientific backing to synergise with truffles and guide the experience in a specific direction.
There are well-known microdosing protocols, such as 1 day on / 2 days off, designed to balance use and integration. Protocols are especially helpful if you have an intention, like addressing burnout, depression, or general wellbeing.
At Happy Tea, we believe the key is balance. We often recommend starting with 1–2 times per week until you notice a difference, then reducing to once a month for maintenance.
There’s no research proving one protocol is better than another — it’s about finding what feels right for you.
Not from microdosing. At higher doses, people can sometimes feel overwhelmed, but with microdoses the effects are subtle and manageable. Most people experience no comedown because you are not getting high.
That’s natural mycelium. It’s harmless and can be rinsed or brushed off before use.
If you believe it is mold, please share a photo with us.
It depends on what you are taking. For a full list of drugs that have no known adverse interactions with truffles, see this guide.(https://microdosingpsychedelics.com/microdosing-and-medication/)
If your SSRI is not on that list, be aware that psilocybin and SSRIs can cancel each other out — meaning you may not feel any effects. It’s always best to talk with your health advisor first.

We’ve had people share that once they transitioned off SSRIs (with guidance from their doctor) and tried Happy Tea, it worked well for them. But any decision like this should always be made with professional advice.
You’ll only feel as strong as the dose you put in the tea bag. You can re-steep and extract the truffle multiple times, but eventually it runs out, and you’d just be drinking a lot of liquid. This is one of the reasons why making tea is a safe way to consume truffles — it’s easier to control, pace yourself cup by cup, and avoid surprises.
All our truffles are grown in the Netherlands at a farm under professional care and controlled conditions. We buy directly from the farm, ensuring they’re pure, natural, and consistently high quality.
We sell Mexicana in 1–4 g doses. It’s the standard strain, known for its reliability and good water solubility in tea. For higher doses, we also offer Tampanensis in 4 g+, which feels closer to a 5 g Mexicana experience.
If you have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder type I, or any form of psychosis, or if these conditions run in your immediate family, we strongly advise against microdosing — even in small amounts.
Psychedelic substances, including psilocybin, can destabilize mood and perception in individuals with these vulnerabilities, and may in some cases trigger latent symptoms.
Always consult a mental health professional before starting any microdosing practice if you have a complex psychiatric history.
There isn’t enough research yet to give a complete answer. We know and have heard of women microdosing during pregnancy or breastfeeding with no reported consequences, as microdosing mainly interacts with the brain and isn’t considered toxic to the body.
That said, because solid research is lacking, we can’t recommend it. If you are curious, we suggest connecting with communities like Moms on Mushrooms, where women share their experiences and support each other.
