I tried the Chill Out bundle for 2 weeks and here’s my honest review

You're reading a review from someone who has a toxic relationship with sleep. My sleep life is a paradox of drinking loads of caffeine to keep myself awake and active, while still needing to take stuff to put me to sleep. My physically demanding job created a situation where I would exhaust myself during the day, receiving a lot of information, but I couldn't fall asleep at night due to an overactive mind. I used to experience a constant mental loop of replaying conversations from my day and excessively analysing future scenarios and challenges.


If you can relate to this, you are not alone. In fact, 1 in 2 adults experience some kind of insomnia related symptom.


Having tried several resources such as sleep sprays, meditation, TED talks, and sleep-related literature, I needed an alternative that worked. While these approaches helped in some way, I looked for a more efficient and long-term solution that could ease my accelerated mind and anxiety. This led me to discover the Mellow Fellow sleep bundle, which intrigued me because of its reputation for promoting better sleep.


The Mellow Fellow protocol


Mellow Fellow, as well as other Happy Tea blends, is crafted with all-natural ingredients that contain adaptogenic properties. That being said, Mellow Fellow sounded like not just an ordinary tea, but a tasty resource to help me recover from my stressful routine.


While many herbal teas claim to promote relaxation and restfulness, what I found interesting in this bundle was the option to combine it with microdosing truffle, something that has been gaining a lot of attention in the scientific field. I followed a protocol of 16 days, during which I took my personal dose of truffles (1g) together with Mellow Fellow tea every other day, 2 hours before going to bed.


How I felt during the protocol


The effects of better sleep became prominent after 9 days. My routine did not change, I still had the same amount of stress and factors that could trigger my anxiety, but I felt way more in balance and calmer to respond to situations. As a result, my mind was at a more peaceful state, which made it easier for me to have control over it instead of the other way around. Whenever it was bedtime, I could fall asleep with my mind at ease. However, specifically during this phase, sleep was not yet that great, as I still had some trouble staying asleep.


During this journey, I learned that there is not one superhero in your story. In my experience, other factors played a role in improving the quality of my sleep: diet and avoiding alcohol consumption. I changed my diet because my gut health was absolutely destroyed, which is a huge contributor to poor mental health, anxiety, depression, and consequently stress. And I quitted alcohol because I felt I was drinking way more for social pressure than because I actually enjoyed a drink. For me, drinking Mellow Fellow and microdosing while still consuming considerable amounts of alcohol was absolutely counter-productive. In my case, alcohol was a catalyser of all the symptoms that I mentioned above. I am not saying everyone should stop drinking alcohol. How I felt afterwards


It's been almost 3 months since I made these changes, and almost 2 months since I finished the Mellow Fellow protocol for sleep. My life has become more uncertain than before, with more reasons that would typically make me anxious. However, I find myself less bothered by these concerns. While I still experience anxiety episodes, they occur much less frequently. Previously, I would have recurring anxiety episodes up to five times a week. Now, they happen only once every two weeks. As a result, I am able to achieve a solid 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each day.


Main take-aways


The protocol I followed was customised to address my specific needs of dealing with constant anxiety and sleepless nights. In my experience, Mellow Fellow was a key resource that helped me with anxiety relief and positively impacted my sleep quality on a long-term basis. However, it is essential to evaluate your personal triggers and identify steps you can take to improve both anxiety and sleep. Always research first or consult with your physician before using other resources that still require scientific evidence.


Microdosing truffles and Mellow Fellow tea worked as a tool to relieve my anxiety, giving me greater control over my mind and improving my sleep quality.
